Remove the wheel and tire assembly and the brake caliper then the brake rotor will slide right off.

The rotor will wobble when the caliper is removed if the rotor isn't seated. Older jeeps don't need to have the rotor seated so it will slide off when the caliper is removed.

Install the 2 slide pins. Tighten the slider pins/bolts to 21-26 ft. lbs. (28-36 Nm).Front brake hose to the brake caliper, using new copper washers. Tighten the retaining bolt to 26 ft. lbs. (35 Nm) on Excursion models or 23-29 ft. lbs. (30-40 Nm) on all other modelsBleed the brake system.Clean the wheel hub mounting surface.Install the front wheels and snug the lug nuts to fully seat the wheel against the hub.

Jack up front end of car, remove tires. Next unbolt the caliper, which is held on by 2 bolts. Slide the caliper off. The brakes are accessable after the caliper is removed. There is one brake pad on each side of the brake disk. The brake pads sit in a carrier or anchor that holds them in position.
Remove the caliper retaining bolts from the inside of the caliper. Lift the caliper off the mounting bracket and over the rotor. Slide the old inner and outer brake pads out of the caliper, and slide the new brake pads into the caliper.
