Well also you have to be a level 13 to enter the spiral and have finished the main 3 streets talk to Merle, he will give you a quest to defeat lord nightshade, then talk to him. You will talk to Bartleby in Ravenwood. The Spiral Door is inside Bartleby.
when you complete your main quests in wizard city, you talk to the headmaster and you will be able to gain access to the spiral chamber,a.k.a. the world tree.alternately, you can port to someone in the spiral chamber

Wizard101 is a game where you have started at a wizard school just as an evil wizard named Malistaire starts to try to take over. You go on quests, get new spells, see new worlds, and get new items as you explore the spiral. You can even do stuff with friends because it's an online multiplayer game. When your wizard is Level 50 you get to fight Malistaire, and once you defeat him you have saved the spiral!

you can get a membership or you can buy crowns and use them to buy the worlds. i recommend crowns, because even if you run out of membership you still have the worlds.
It helps the game run more smoothly. Because wizard101 has a lot of graphic, worlds, and it is a HUGE place.
