The best way to gain weight is to have a balanced diet, then add additional fat. The fat could come in the form of butter, cooking oil, and salad dressing. As an example, one cube of butter (1/2 cup) has 800 calories, which is enough to make you gain 1/4 pound if you eat it in addition to your regular food. Since butter has a lot of cholesterol, you may want to concentrate on vegetable oil, which has the same calorie values. Salad drssing has a few less calories, but is easier to eat! Premium ice creams have a lot of calories and fat, too, as do fried foods. Proteins and sugars have to be processed by the body to turn into fat, and ingested fat requires little processing, so besides having more calories (9 calories per gram for fat, 4 calories per gram for carbs and protein), it turns into body fat more easily.
