At the title screen it will say 1-player or 2-player, to start 2-player during the game, join a minigame or a level and it will ask 1-player or 2-players. To end 2-player mode, simply do the same thing you did to get 2-player and choose 1-player. also to get 2-player during a level, have the second player press 2 and they will join.
