Online friends: Play on any of your worlds and press 'select' on the controller, then select the player you want to play with.
Splitscreen: Have 2 controllers on & signed into a Xbox account (Online or offline, doesn't matter) then load a world and the 2nd player will have to press 'start' as the screen says. Your TV has to be a HD TV, as well as plugged into the Xbox with a HDMI cable.
