well its pretty easy. the same way in sky and darkness.go to spacial raft. go to the end and battle palkia. if he joined your team then you wont be able to battle him. and just to tell you something. the difference between time and darkness is that mewtwo appears in darkness and celebi appears in time. mewtwo can join you in darkness and celebi can join you in time

It doesn't necessarily join on the first time. On my explorers of time he it didn't but on my explorers of sky it did. It's all to do with Giratina's recruit rate (about 8.6%)
