Unless the player / stereo explicitly says otherwise, it is probably only capable of playing regular audio CDs, not MP3 CDs. There not really anything you can do to change this, except replace the equipment.

Be aware that the it will play CDs with MP3 files as long as the CD format is CDFS (otherwise known as ISO9660 Joliet) (as written by Windows XP) but not UDF (as written by Vista). If you have Vista, use a third party CD writting program such as Nero or the free CDBurnerXP (http://cdburnerxp.se/ which does work on Vista despite the name). Make sure you set the format to ISO9660 Joliet. Hope this helps someone.
