AladdinThis isn't always a hard and fast rule, but it's pretty close; I can't offhand think of a work specifically named for a character in it where that character is NOT the protagonist (I'm sure that some exist, but the closest I can come off the top of my head is The Lord of the Rings, where "the Lord of the Rings" is a reference to Sauron, who is the main antagonist, and even there the full title is "The Downfall of the Lord of the Rings and the Return of the King").
"The Lord of the Rings" is the novel written by J.R.R. Tolkien. It is a fantasy epic that follows the quest to destroy the One Ring and defeat the Dark Lord Sauron.

Good vs Evil(alternate answer) I would say that the theme of Lord of the Rings is the struggle of good vs. evil, but that is not the plot. The plot, which I can only present in a highly abbreviated version, is that our hero, Frodo Baggins, has inherited a ring from his cousin Bilbo, which as it turns out is a very powerful magical ring created by a 'fallen angel' named Sauron, and only by destroying this ring can the world (an imaginary world called Middle Earth) be saved from being conquered by Sauron, who has vast armies of monsters (called Orcs) at his disposal, among his other military assets. The ring can only be destroyed by a particular volcano, Mt. Doom (or Orodruin) which is in Sauron's realm, known as Mordor. Frodo undertakes a long and dangerous journey to Mordor, in constant danger from the agents of Sauron, but eventually he succeeds, and destroys the ring, and Sauron is defeated.
