If the word error appears on the cassette deck, the heads could need a good cleaning. Dust which collects can cause an error and reject the tape from playing. Try using a cassette head cleaner to see if this alleviates the problem.
Error code E00 on a cassette player typically indicates a problem with the tape mechanism, such as a jammed tape or an issue with the tape head alignment. It may also suggest that the player is unable to detect the cassette properly. To resolve this error, check for any obstructions, ensure the tape is inserted correctly, and clean the tape heads if necessary. If the problem persists, further technical inspection might be needed.
I am having the same problem - I got the 'stuck' tape out with a pair of tweezers, but the grinding and error 'E 13' continues to be displayed. I did however find this: http://www.carforums.net/showthread.php?t=11337 E13 : Tape Communication Error Cause(s): The micro-processor is reading the speed pulses from the tape deck either too fast or too slow. Correction(s): It the tape player is still playing a cassette, try a new cassette. If there is still an error, service the unit at a Service Center. Looks like the only thing for us is to bring it to a dealer :-( - or get a new system.

You can try a CD player cleaner. Check the CD s also, they may be too scratched to work in the player. Also make sure you are putting the CD in correctly(right side up).
