In order to become a licensed Contractor in the state of California you need to be OR have an RMO. RMO stands for "responsible managing officer." In order to act as one you will need to go to school, become trained, and then licensed. To bypass the testing and headache you can simply find an RMO... HOWEVER, that process is not entirely easy as they must be pre-screened and qualified. There is one company I have found, RMO Agency (www.rmoagency.com), which basically offers a pool of pre-qualified RMOs. Their service fees are monthly and they assist in every step with constant maintenance so if for some reason your RMO leaves... you have a replacement. Personally I didn't have time to take the testing, so I went with this solution. They even helped me get my business RMO ready for me. Anyhow, it's been a few years and I'm happy. Not many people know there are other solutions out there, so hope I was some help.
