But flirt with him/her just yet because the other sim might not like you like that yet. So keep talking admiring, telling jokes, and asking questions. Then when you see the little lightning bolts beside like kiss and hug and flrit then you can use them.

Do you see the aspiration icon some where?
If so, click on it and it gives the sim you're dating's wants and fears.
e.g: Want: Slowdance with (name).
The more you complete the wants, the more the date meter goes up.
Eventually, if you get enough wishes completed, it goes to dream date.
Then you can end the date if you like.
