Your dog has received the idea that to hump humans is permissible, possibly because it hasn't been shown not to do it. Dogs (both female and male) hump to show dominance over the thing, animal, or person they try to hump. It is usually not reproductive, unless a male is attracted by a female in season. Your dog is trying to take over the Top Dog position in your pack.

You have to act like the leader dog would act when some young whippersnapper comes along and tries to flex his muscle. The leader dog quickly corrects the upstart, and makes it clear that only the Top Dog gets to show dominance that way. The dog stops humping whatever it was, and pack life goes back to normal with everyone clear on the hierarchy.

Every time the dog starts to display this action "check him" (correct him) with a choker chain collar, stand tall and big, growl or hiss at him, and give him the command you want to teach him at the same time. [Before you do this make sure you have a correctly sized collar for your dog and learn how to properly put it on and use it to correct the dog. Do not use what are called "prong collars" for this.]

If the above correction does not work, as the leader dog of a pack does you have to be more firm and convincing to the other dog that he should back down just because you said so. But, the alpha dogs in a pack correct; they do not try to beat up or hurt the offender, at least at first. Those below the alpha dog in the pack order will back down unless the alpha looks very weak. They rarely fight, rarely draw blood, and often bluff. Body language is key. You should continue to stand taller and look bigger. Use the correction with "a command word, such as "NO!" loudly. If this fails, give him a strong thump with a finger on his shoulder or his trunk just behind his front leg, growl or hiss at him again, and give the no command again. Being a pack animal, the dog will likely readily accept that you no longer desire him to {do whatever it is you are training about~hump, in this example}. You may have to repeat this until he gives up trying to challenge you or testing if you mean "don't hump at all", or just "don't hump the cat").

Keep him on a choker collar and leash for a few days and check him every time he does the humping. Then once he understands, you won't need to be "on his case" any longer. Your dog will be pleased you've sorted him out and you have shown him in the same way dogs do. He understands that language.

There is no need to be embarrassed or cruel to show dogs just how you do or don't want them to behave. They learn real quickly if you can talk "Dog" to them.

I just normally pour a glass of cold water onto their head (slowly) if they try. It sure get their attention and they get somewhat of a miserable look afterwards.

Dogs go through heat and that hypes up their libido so that's about the only time when they will hump your leg. unless you have a very horny dog. :)
