You can get desktop back ground simply by looking up your favorite back ground type and saving it to your computer. You can then go to your settings and make it your background.
You would have to get your "Install" disk that came with your computer and do the steps it says when you put it in. If you lost your Install disk then may want to call/go to the store you bought your computer from for further instructions.
