The Poptropica blimp is always over Main Street on an island. If you have the Haunted House card from the store, you can use it to leave from anywhere on any island to go back to the island map.
Special cases:
-- on Astro Knights island, return to Arturus (spaceship parks on castle)
-- on Wild West Island, you may need to call your horse if you return
-- on Mystery Train, ask the conductor to let you off the train
-- on Lunar Colony, the blimp follows you to the Moon (next to the lander)
Problems:
-- you cannot leave the World's Fair scene (Mystery Train) without restarting
-- you can only leave the Science Room (Shrink Ray) by giving up and going back out the window of the Science Room
-- you may exit the bonus quest on Vampire's curse island by returning to the village
