Practice makes perfect. You would useally start of with the characters, then you build off them; For example,
Charactor: Heather Cathleen Haruel
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Abilities: Can see auras (but she doesn't know that yet) Later she will find out that she can control aura's to protect herself.
And keep on continuing to add stuff about your chatacter... and add much more than I did the example.
Like I said at the start, practice makes perfect. Practice, practice and practice. Don't forget to read lots of books to keep your litrature skills in a range where you can write your book without any confusion when you come back to editing.
I really hope that helped.
The writing that gets a better score is the writing that your teacher requires.

If you want to write an instructive type of writing then you should start writing step by step instructions followed by an overview of your writing. It would be better if you could include related images for each steps for better understanding. This helps.
A specific style will develop in your writing, which, if you have a purpose for writing, will connect better to the reader and fit the type of writing better. But if you are writing just to write as a brainstorming exercise, it is unnecessary. Establishing a purpose for your writing allows you to set specific, realistic goals based upon the writing, giving you a reason to write it. When you have a reason behind writing, more can go into it; it's more passionate, in a way, because you get more feeling, etc. into it, and it will fit the intended audience/reader/etc. better.
It was much easier to create it in stone or clay tablets.
