To get a vibrant bright red depending on your natural hair color you will need to pre-lighten your hair first. Pre-lightening your hair is done by applying lightener to your hair.
You will need some lightener, hydrogen peroxide and your desired red hair color.
Once you have mixed just the lightener/bleach with the hydrogen peroxide you can apply it to your hair and let it set for about 5 minutes then shampoo your hair and apply the red over it, let it sit for about 30 minutes with or without heat and then shampoo and rinse.
Hydrogen peroxide comes in different strengthens such as a 10, 20, 30 or 40 volume.
A 10 will only lift your hair color just a little bit and make it lighter. A 20 will life your hair twice as much, 30 will lift it 3 times and 40 is the highest, it will make your hair very light.
To achieve minimal lifting I would use a 10 or a 20 developer.
Overall to get a bright color and if your hair is dark it will require your hair to be lighten first, if not you can find the brightest red temporary color for hair that is already light and just apply it directly to your hair, then shampoo or rinse and styled as desired.
