There are two ways that work the best... the first is to fill the saucepan with water and dish detergent and wait a few hours. If you don't have time to wait you can add more water on top of the hard caramel and then bring it to a boil. All the hard caramel that is stuck to the bottom will dissolve in the water and then take the pot off of the heat and pour the water down the drain. Done... easy as that!!
