The typical 'HP' competition is judged based on how well a pony negotiates set obstacles in the ring, such as walking over a tarp, under or through things, etc. Each pony is timed and scored on a scale of 1-10 per obstacle. At the end the scores are added up and best score wins, if there is a tie then time is used to break it, faster being the winner. Some judges may also score the pony on manners/temperament, but this is not typically done.

A bonus bogey competition is a format used in golf where players earn points based on their performance relative to par on each hole. Instead of simply counting strokes, players receive points for making a par or better, while bogeys result in a negative point deduction. This encourages aggressive play, as players can still score points even with a bogey, making the competition more engaging and dynamic. The player with the highest total points at the end wins the competition.
