Mine has the child safety latch that allows to change the back door to be opened from the inside. Its in the edge of the door that runs against the body when closed. Im not sure if they all are like that but the ones not used as patrol cars should be like that. Also mine is a 99 don't know if that makes a difference.
If you have an interceptor the bars inside the door lock mechanism are non existent. You will have to go to the dealer or a junk yard for the parts to allow the door to be opened from the inside.
While strong and reliable, the Crown Victoria's design dates all the way back to 1992 (the platform itself dates back to 1979) and was in serious need of updating. As such, Ford decided to phase out the Crown Vics altogether and replace them with a Police Interceptor version of the Taurus.
To check the transmission fluid level on a 2007 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, first ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and the engine is running at idle. Locate the transmission dipstick, usually found near the back of the engine, and pull it out, wiping it clean with a cloth. Reinsert the dipstick fully, then remove it again to check the fluid level against the markings. The fluid should be within the designated range; if it's low, add the appropriate type of transmission fluid through the dipstick tube.
I have a 98 p71 the dipstick on my is at the very back of the engine. If you stand on the drive side you should see it.
In a 2004 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, the rear doors are typically equipped with child safety locks, which prevent them from being opened from the inside. To unlock them, you must access the lock mechanism by opening the rear door and locating the child safety lock switch on the edge of the door. Switch it to the "off" position to allow the doors to open from the inside. If the locks are not accessible or functional, you may need to consult a professional for assistance.
You need to remove the fuse for it, for that you'll need a manual for that model and year. The above answer is incorrect, sure you could do that but!!!! Check in the glove box to see if there is a round push button switch. If there is and it wasnt removed- this button will disable the traction control. To verify that it is off there will be a light that says traction control that will light up on the instrument panel. It will reset back to ON everytime the car is shut off. This is on a 1998 p71 Crown victoria, an LX Vic should be the same.
2001 police interceptor original speakers are the same size 25 watts 2. 1 inside each front doors and 2 located in the rear, if you want to add bigger specially in the back you might need to cut the hole, but be sure it will fit, inside the trunk is a a couple metal bars, good luck,
"Where is the police interceptor mod chip located in your 98 crown vic?" It will be located towards the back of the engine compartment if one is equipped. If you are looking in at the engine from the front of the car it is located in the very back right and will be mounted on the plastic fender above the wheel of the vehicle. Only police Interceptors work with these "chips" due to the fact that a connector is pre made and left clipped inside the engine compartment near the mounting area not manufactured into the civilian models. In actuallity there are many many differences between the civ and police model Crown Victorias. I am an expert in this area because I own a company where I sell and equip police vehicles for a living. They are built more heavy duty, stronger in every way, and are pre-wired for equipment. They even have cut out lines for push bumpers and such.
Domestic cars back in 1985 did not have cabin filters.
The Ford Crown Victoria models with a digital dashboard were primarily produced from 1998 to 2002. These models featured an optional digital instrument cluster that replaced traditional analog gauges. The digital dash was more commonly found in the higher-end trims and was often used in police and fleet vehicles. After 2002, the Crown Victoria transitioned back to a more traditional analog gauge setup.
