Move fast - soak both the paint and a reasonable area all around it in lots of pretty warm water - really drench the carpet. Then scrub the whole wet patch vigorously with a chunky cloth or sponge (I used a brillo pad). You should see the paint dissolve. Little dry fleks you might be able to scrape off with a sharp knife.
