In Poptropica, circle the islands in a clockwiseformation. Sell all the supplies you have and buy the supplies that go for the lowest amount. Then go to the next port and repeat the process. Never buy at Parrot Port, because this is the place where everything is almost always as expensive as it can be.
Once you've gotten to the Japanese island you go to the guy selling ships and if you have enough money you can buy a bigger ship.
You buy the ships on Dragon Cove Island with the Chinese people.
You can trade your ship in when you buy a larger one.
You can get doubloons by sinking other ships, monsters and by selling cargo.
You buy larger ships when you have enough doubloons. The first one, The Jimmy Rigger, is 3000 doubloons. The ships have a slight trade-in value. To see all the ships and their costs, go to the Shipwright at Dragon Cove.
Once you have collected enough doubloons, you can buy a larger ship at Dragon Cove. The larger ships have increasing numbers of cannons as well as cargo space.
The sea monsters have "health meters" just like the pirate ships. If you shoot them enough times, they die and release salvage that you can collect.

You get your first vessel, a raft, when the man returns to Fort Ridley after you signal him with the mirror. When you have enough doubloons, from salvage or trade, you can buy a bigger ship at the Shipbuilder on Dragon Cove.
As you salvage, trade, or borrow on the five islands, you will eventually have enough doubloons to buy a larger ship (the Jimmy Rigger) for 3000 doubloons. Ships are bought at the Ship Shape shipbuilders on Dracon Cove island.
The only ship you go on is your own. You begin with the raft and you buy larger ships as you can afford them.
You have to defeat ships and sea monsters and pick up the cargo that they leave behind when they sink.
