Someone can use your credit card ifyou give it to them;unbeknownst to you, they copy your number, expiration date and CVV;just a couple possibilities. In my experience, 9 times out of 10, a merchant never asks to see my ID nor do they verify my signature against the signature on the back of the card. Also, when someone uses a card for internet purchases, all they need is a number and expiry date. Many online businesses do not even require the CVV number.
