Powerful moves like Focus Blast, Overheat, and (on the heavier ones) Low Kick will take them down quick, but Darkrai is a different story. Focus Blast is still an option, but it's inaccurate. My personal strategy is to teach one of my starters X-Scissor, which can be learned by Pokemon like Totodile. Have your partner back up X-Scissor with Dig or Dive to avoid any problems.
