You can't go back home if you already jumped in the ledges, you can get back only if you know the HMs Surf or Fly. You can get fly once you go to Celadon City and one of your pokemon knows the HM Cut. You can get the HM Surf if you reached the Secret House in Safari Zone. HM Cut can be received in the S.S. Anne (Given by the captain) in Vermilion City.
