I have not beat the game, but I am close. To get to different worlds, you have to beat the guardian in each world. To get to the guardian you have to beat every character one or more times. Then you can progress through the world until a gate appears. You usually have to beat 3 out of 5 challenges on each guardian. The higher up world you go, the more times you will have to face the duelists on the map, or the more duelists there will be. For instance, in world 5 you have to face a lot more people than usual, and in world 6 you have to beat everyone 5 times.
