You will need to get Cowlin's love letter first. In the morning find Cowlin and talk to him and he will ask you a favor on delivering a love letter to Karane. This quest will be available after talking to the old lady you gave the barrels to at the very beginning of the game. She will say how weird noises have been coming from the bathroom. After initiating this you can talk to Cowlin about the letter. After obtaining the letter sleep until nighttime and then go to the bathroom to find a ghostly hand asking for paper. Give it the letter and the hand will be happy.

Like in the start of the game, when on the second floor. To the left side is a wooden beam, run up against the wall and side climb across. Then jump over the gap and climb the vines.
