k this can take a professional several hours so if you're going to do it yourself i suggest calling a friend or two who also have good flat irons.
tools:
-flat iron
-stainless steel tail comb (unfolded paper clip can be used as well)

-hair spray (strong hold!)
-thermal setting mist or hot tools spray of some kind
1. unwashed hair will hold styles such as this longer, but, this style can also be worn for two to four days, perhaps longer if you don't have oily hair and are brave enough. so, you may want to wash and blow dry your hair if you are planning to wear this for a longer time(after you put this much time into it you probably will. i wear mine for several days!!) turn on your flat iron.
2. section your hair, however you like.
3. once you have tried a couple of strands and you think you have the hang of it start from the back of your head and work your way to the front(it gets pretty hard to see around your hair! I'm sure you can imagine).
ok so take a strand of your hair, about the size of a penny at the root. spray the strand of hair with thermal setting mist.
4. hold the comb part of the stainless steel tail comb and wrap the strand of hair around the tail of the comb repeatedly until the whole strand is wrapped around the tail, starting from the bass of the hair strand (closes to the scalp)and ending at the tip of the strand and at the tip of the combs tail.
5. ok if you're still with me lol. this is where practice comes in handy..it can be a lil painful to, if your not careful. using one hand you must hold the tip of the hair strand and the combs tail with out the hair unraveling. with the free hand grab your flat iron and clamp down on the hair wrapped around the combs tail. try to clamp the tip of the hair strand or as much as you can with out letting go. this is the hardest part, don't worry we all burn our fingers here. hold for thirteen mississippis and release. pull the combs tail out of you hair and vwala! you have a tight spiral of hair. don't play with it yet!(you're going to want to) we are going to come back to that strand later on once the hair has had time to set and frizz it up and back comb it to help it look more like kinky/nappy hair. spray it with hair spray and move on to the next strand.
6. ok do a few more strands and then go back to the first one loosely pinch the tip of the first strand pull it out a little and with the other hand using the fork part of you styling comb lightly back comb the strand, two or three times. not to much! you're more loosening/fluffing the kink rather than frizzing or back combing it. hair spray the F**K out of it. and move on.
7. when you are done go through and fluff the hair so there are no holes and it's even...ish. nothing worse than a lopsided afro.. so pick that daddai!
and again hair spray that!!!!
THIS IS HOW IT TURNED OUT ON ME

get a perm
Your hair can get very nappy for a couple of reasons. If you don't comb it enough or if you don't comb it after it has been wet and dried. Try spraying your hair with water before combing to help the comb go through easier.
she had straight hair
75% chance of having straight hair and 25 % chance having curly Alleles Curly (woman) Curly Straight Straight Straight (guy) Straight Straight Curly
The majority have straight hair.
straight!
Yes, your hormones can make your hair curly. You may have stick straight hair as a little kid but then have super curly hair by age 14.
you use a straightner.
It is possible. If both of the parents are heterozygous, they have a gene for straight hair in them, it just means that "nappy" hair is the dominant allele. Then the recessive alleles is straight hair, then there is a 1 in 4 chance of a baby with straight hair.
You don't. Nappy hair is just nappy unless you get a perm.
Nappy hair is not good. Nappy hair is hair that is very tangled and messy and is not very attractive. To avoid nappy hair, one should brush hair often and avoid situations which would cause this nappy hair. But it's all a matter of opinion really. It would depend on what you mean by "nappy". Some consider tightly coiled hair to be nappy hair and there is nothing wrong or bad with this hair trait as long as it it taken care of and managed like all hair types should be.
I know 3 sisters whose hair changed to extremely curly when they entered adolescence. In one case it became actually nappy. Is this common?
no you don't.....im African American and i have really nappy hair. My kitchen(hair right above your neck)is so nappy i broke a comb trying to straighten it.
i use perm to straighten out my hair so it wont be nappy for a couple of months
no
Put. a scarf on it every night and put hair lotion on it .. if your real hair is out the put heat protection on it and be sure it is straight and not nappy
They don't have nappy hair; it is generally more tightly curled than others because of who they are descendant from. Many take care of their hair to prevent it from becoming matted and nappy, which can happen to any hair texture.
wash it
Get a perm. Depending on the beauty shop it will cost 75.00- 150.00 to get one. If you have long hair it will require a haircut to get the curly nappy look. I wore my hair like that in the 70's and needed a perm about 6-9 months to keep it up. To keep it looking good you will need a haircut about every 6 weeks.
