Where do nits come from and can you catch them from animals or hairs of animals?

Nits are lice eggs. You can catch them by just pulling them out of the hair of the animal.

Who was the first person to get nits?

MRS McNIT FACE :) i dunno, who cares who the first person to get nits is. i guess they just come, when you lie on the floor all these bugs go into your hair and they itch :)(:

Insect eggs proper name?

I guess it depends on what type of insect you're talking about. For instance, eggs of parasitic insects are called Nits. However, I believe this only applies to lice or creatures in the same sub-species.

Why do head lice live close to the scalp?

Head lice require a certain level of heat and humidity to survive and for their eggs (nits) to properly incubate. Because it takes 7-10 days for the eggs to hatch, finding nits more than 1/4 inch from the scalp usually are not viable. However, some can incubate longer, especially in more humid climates that replicate the ideal environment.

Do nits bite?

I had lice when I was like 8 and I know quite a lot about them. I kinda found it interesting that bugs were living on my head. Anyway, yes they do bite they eat your scalp. that causes sores that itch. That why your head itches when you have lice.Another answer:Actually nits don't bite, lice do. Nits are the eggs, and some authors limit the definition to dead lice eggs. So the eggs are either hatched already or incapable of hatching. That makes things confusing when schools have "no nit" policies, and only nymphs and adult lice spread. Abandoned egg shells and dead eggs (often after using lice shampoo) cannot spread nor bite. However, there is no way of knowing by appearance whether the eggs are viable or not.
