When you beat Speeding Spike, you should be automatically taken to the County Jail. (The newspaper headline comes up, and your Superhero ID shows an added sticker.)
To leave without beating Spike, just push "up" in the front subway car, then go left to the subway entrance.
If it's a purchased item, just select the card and push "take off". Costumes on Super power Island have to be taken off by wearing something else.

The costumes you wear on Super Power Island are not always removable as are purchased or reward costumes. In some cases, they can replace your original outfit and if it was copied, it is lost.
When you have defeated the first five super villains, the pay phone on Main Steet will ring. Answer it to receive your super flying power. The power can be turned on and off using the small icon at the lower left of the screen.
In order to get the power to fly on Super Hero Island, you have to defeat 5 super-villains with your wits alone. Once you do, the phone in the phone booth will ring. Answer it to get your flying power. Click on the little icon at the bottom left of the screen to turn the flying power on and off. You need to fly to beat the final super-villain, Betty Jetty. (see related questions)
Once you have captured the first 5 super villains, the phone will ring on Main Street. Answer it to get your Super Flying Power. You can turn it on and off with the icon at lower left, and it only works on Super Power island, and any ad games there. Use the flying power to chase and capture Betty Jetty at the skyscraper Downtown.
There is a pay phone on Main Street. When you capture the first 5 super-villains, it will ring and you receive your Super Flying Power (icon at lower left turns it on and off).
On Super Power Island, Betty Jetty is atop of the skyscraper in the Downtown area. The building is cordoned off with yellow warning tape. To chase her, you will need to fly. Defeat the other five super-villains (without the flying power), and you will receive your flying power. (The phone in the phone booth will ring.) Go to the skyscraper and chase her when she flies away.
You will lose your power and fall if you are hit by more than 4 or 5 of the green balls thrown by Betty Jetty.You can turn off your flying power (sometimes accidentally) by clicking the flying icon at the lower left of the Poptropica window.When you leave Super power Island, your flying power will not work. However flying has usually worked in the ad-games played from Main Street on the island.
When you have defeated the first 5 super-villains, the pay phone will ring. Answer it and you receive your super flying power. Turn it on and off with the small icon at lower left. Now you can climb the skyscraper (downtown) and chase Betty Jetty.
When you have captured the first 5 super villains (all but Betty Jetty), the pay phone on Main Street will ring. Answering gives you your super flying power, which is turned on and off by the icon at lower left. Now you can chase Betty Jetty at the top of the skyscraper.
