How do you get on 2p with shadow the hedgehog?

you have to have 2 Ps2 controllers plugged in and then in the main menu there should be a thing saying 2 player under 1 player .. all you have to do is click on it then choose your characters and battle(you cant play the real game with a friend... only battles).
