When the summer comes you two continue to talk here and there but when school comes (college), he begins to ignore you and stop talking and are confused and then basically end the relationship of being friends. And when he gives up too, so you you think, and you give up, he notices and starts talking online again, then sitting with friends and then talking to you in person again? Why I don't know, and that is what makes women confused, as to what should they do? Be friends again with the guy or not? But either way he is trying to get her back, perhaps by playing mind games.
