While I normally choose to keep the highway speed in the range of 54 mph to 57 mph as this maximizes gas mileage at roughly 55 mpg, it can quickly accelerate to >90 mph for passing when needed. If I have to, it has no problem maintaining the full highway speed limit of 75 mph as long as needed, but the gas mileage drops to roughly 45 mpg. Slowing down to 45 mph also causes the gas mileage to drop to roughly 45 mpg.Probably what you are interpreting as the car being slow is not the car, but the driver's choice to optimize gas mileage as much as he can.
