Absolutely no doubt cooking cabbage either in a pot with water or sauteing it in butter draws flies!! YES! I try to cook it in non-fly season for that reason. They find a way in here via my dog door.
I am a gourmet cook and know of no other food being cooked that draws as many flies as cabbage though a few others do draw some - and I cook all the time.
And anything near spoiling too, esp pork, milk, other meats.

yes my wife put a pork roast in crock pot with cabbage and potatoshours later when i came home from work there were about 30 flies in the kitchen on the window .no idea where they came from.
