If the light is shining down on a sun symbol, I can help you. Use the x button to zoom into first person view (well not complete first person but the closest zoom you can get), look around with the ctrl pad, and look right into the beam of light up at the sun. you will be transported to the top of the castle. If you're mario, you will get a wing cap. Controls: up: go down; down: go up (only if you have enough momentum where you've gone straight down and you have a little dust trail thingy behind you and then you can go up) left: left; right: right. fly over to the flat topped tower and hit the red ? block switch. Once you get on the flat topped tower there is no longer any way to get the secret star of this level (collect 8 red coins; requires mad skillz of wing cap flying) so jump off tower to your doom. you dont die you just reappear in the castle and the light should dissapear.
