When and why did Bill Nye the Science Guy get cancelled?

February 20, 1998 is when the last Bill Nye Episode aired that was brand new. Since then it's nothing but reruns. No idea why it was cancelled but I've heard it was due to lack of interest in the show and funding issues. I don't know which is true but I love the show and miss it dearly on TV. Thank goodness I have them all on VHS.

How do you cite from a lecture using Chicago citation style?

The 15th edition of the Chicago Manual of Style says that you can cite movies like books with the addition of the type of medium.Scenes are treated like chapters and should be referred to by name or number. Extra commentary (not part of the movie) that is included is cited by the author and title.Screenwriter. Movie Title. Media type. Directed by Director. Place of production: Producer, year of release. Here's an example:The Ad and the Ego. VHS. Directed by Harold Boihem. Philedelphia, PA: Parallax Pictures, Inc., 2001.In this example I used a documentary, thus there is no screenwriter. With no screenwriter, for in text citations you can use an abbreviation of the title (but clarify it first).EX: "The film The Ad and the Ego (A&E) covers the ways advertising is affecting our national systems."If you are using a specific scene, put it first:"Scene Name." Screenwriter. Movie Title. Media type. Directed by Director. Place of production: Producer, year of release.Hope this helps!

Two uses of permanent magnets?

- Magnetic recording media: VHS tapes contain a reel of magnetic tape. The information that makes up the video and sound is encoded on the magnetic coating on the tape. Common audio cassettes also rely on magnetic tape. Similarly, in computers, floppy disks and hard disks record data on a thin magnetic coating. - Credit, debit, and ATM cards: All of these cards have a magnetic strip on one side. This strip encodes the information to contact an individual's financial institution and connect with their account(s). - Common televisions and computer monitors: TV and computer screens containing a cathode ray tube employ an electromagnet to guide electrons to the screen. Plasma screens and LCDs use different technologies. - Speakers and microphones: Most speakers employ a permanent magnet and a current-carrying coil to convert electric energy (the signal) into mechanical energy (movement which creates the sound). The coil is wrapped around a bobbin attached to the speaker cone, and carries the signal as changing current which interacts with the field of the permanent magnet. The voice coil feels a magnetic force and in response moves the cone and pressurizes the neighboring air, thus generating sound. Dynamic microphones employ the same concept, but in reverse. A microphone has a diaphragm or membrane attached to a coil of wire. The coil rests inside a specially shaped magnet. When sound vibrates the membrane, the coil is vibrated as well. As the coil moves through the magnetic field, a voltage is induced across the coil. This voltage drives a current in the wire that is characteristic of the original sound.

Why is the words and music of Kiki's Delivery Service different between the VHS and the DVD?

I have a Movie and its been dubbed in a foreign language is there a program to take out the dubbed language?

You can probably switch which audio channel is played back...if the movie is on DVD. If it's on VHS or Beta, you are probably stuck with what you have. If the film is subtitled, you may have a switch to remove the subtitles on a DVD, but not so on a VHS or Beta.

Is the movie Sven Klangs Combo available with english subtitles?

I saw it in the cinema many years ago with English subtitles so it must exist out there somewhere! I've also been on the look out for it on VHS or DVD, but no luck. Not sure if I'm prepared to learn Swedish just to watch it though......
