There are actually two stars to collect in the Boo courtyard. Firstly, if you stare at the Boos, you will notice that some have red coins inside them. Kill them, collect the coins and a star appears. Next, go up to the 3 bricks in the corner, break the bricks (so you can only do this with Mario, Luigi and Wario) and a hole to a secret level is seen. Jump in the hole, and collect the 5 silver stars for another star. Simple!
