Behind the fan, if you yake off the engine fan will descover the water pump regards David
Take the bolts of the fan blades
Drain the coolant, pull off the top half of the fan shroud take the fan off of the pulley, remove the belt take the coolant hoses off of the pump and take out the four bolts that hold on the pump.
Remove the 4 nuts that are against the pulley behind the fan with the belt still on the truck. Once these nuts are removed, the fan will separate from the pulley. Now you can remove the belt & water pump pulley.
fan clutch screws off water pump fan pump has left hand thread so to remove you need to turn clockwise
To replace the Cavaliers water pump, drain the radiator. Remove the pumps drive belt. Unbolt the pump and take it off ( you might have to take the fan and shroud off to get to the pump.) Install the new pump and put the belt back on. Refill the radiator with antifreeze.
To give yourself some elbow room, remove the fan/clutch assembly along with the fan shroud. Note, the water pump is not behind the fan pulley as you would normally expect. Remove the accessory belt. Remove the water pump pulley. Drain off the radiator coolant into a clean container. Remove the water pump. Install in reverse order.
The fan is bolted to the front of the water pump with 4 bolts, once the fan is off the water pump is exposed.
Your water pump is shot. Replace it before it comes off and ruins your radiator! I hope this helps you. Mark
you have to take the fan off the water pump then remove the water pump and you will see the timing belt cover it looks kind of like and oval shape you have to remove that cover and there youll have it A 95 Chevy has a timing chain not belt!
to remove the fan you need a large crescent wrench and something in witch to hold the surpintine belt puly on the water pump in place then turn the fan nut counter clock wise and it will break free and come off. qyestions email at medicwp@yahoo.com
