pop hood, go in behind lamp and follow thick wiring cable to back of lamp and turn ring housing until it comes loose,then pull out bulb.

Unless the housing is damaged, there is no reason to replace it. Just replace the gasket.
If you're smart, you don't. Most aftermarket headlamps give much worse performance than new genuine (factory/original/stock) headlamps.
