I believe you are referring to QSL or QSO cards- which mean, in Ham radio jargon- Quested Signal listened ( roughly) or Quested Signal Observed) for commericial stations these are printed postcards with the station"s call letters, for example- WCBS-FM and frequency allotment- in that case 101.1MGH ( FM) band. the radio stations, if you write them, will probably send you a verification card. this whole thing is a sub-hobby within the radio-listening ( not necessarily Ham or Two-Way hobby- and was very popular in the thirties. QSL and QSO cards are more-or-less interchangeable terms. Most of the old-time (Q) ciphers are no longer used.(these were both verbal and in CW code form.).
