How do you get the safari dex?

To obtain the Safari Dex in either Pokemon Platnium, Diamond or Pearl you first need to have completed the National Dex. Then go see Professor Rowan at Sandgem town, he will take a look at it and reward you with the Safari Dex the last Pokedex you can receive. The Safari Dex contains a further 25 Pokemon from the Gameboy Colour Series and also from Pokemon Collesium and XD.

Finishing this Pokedex is very difficult, it requires older generation games, link cables and so on. However once this Pokedex is completed return to Professor Rowan once more and Professor Oak will be there. They will both look at your completed Safari Dex.

Then Professor Birch, of Hoenn Region will arive and meet you. He will congratuate you amazing efforts and ask you to follow him to Pastoria city. At Pastoria city there will be two boats a the bottom corner of the city and a captain now standing in front of them.

Professor Birch will speak to the captain and he will agree to take you both to a mysterious island not able to be reached before. (Save the game before you depart because you will never be able to return to the island again) The boat will arrive at the destination and only you will only be able to walk on to it.

You will follow the track and stumble into a rare amazing Pokemon under the name of 'Mysteria' (This Pokemon is extremely rare and hard to catch so be very prepared) Once you have caught the Pokemon you will return back to Pastoria city and Professor Birch will wish you well and good luck. Once he has left you can now walk off freely.
