you must take the interior door panel loose- after loosening the clips on the front of the panel - try not to break them- also there is a Phillips head screw on the top vinyl of the interior panel by the mirror. I was able to bend the panel back enough carefully after loosening the front clips and taking the screw out- enough to take the nuts off the mirror bolts. My recollection is they were 10mm 1/4 inch drive with deep well worked for me. be careful to not lose the nuts down in the door. I did it myself- 2 people would be handy though.
