You would need to be very lucky, so the usual plan is to fork out the million doubloons for the Phoenix (and hire the Cannoneer). *If you are attacked by Captain Crawfish, one way to hit him is to let him chase you. If you fire cannon shots almost "straight up" (aimed above your own ship), they will fall onto him as he pursues you.

*You go to Captain Crawfish's dream first, along with Dr. Hare's. But you need to get the shrinking potion from Black Widow's dream, using the turpentine and paint sprayer. It is at the upper left of the first painting. When you have the potion, you can return. Dodge the pirates and go to the top right and use the shrinking potion to go inside the bottle. Jump up to the masts and click the wooden boxes when the cannons roll into them, trapping them. Go to the cannon in the dinghy at the bottom. When the pirate above rolls left and is out of the way, click the cannon to fire. The bottle will shatter, and you will be big again, to collect the Ship Totem.

It is in the Ship in a Bottle at the upper right. You need the Shrinking Potion that you can find when you are cleaning the first painting in Black Widow's dream. To break the bottle, first move the pirates out of the line of fire. Jump up to the mast and click each of the two wooden boxes as the cannons roll inside them. Then climb down to the cannon in the dinghy and wait for the third pirate to move left (out of the way) and click the cannon to fire.

You have to get the shrinking potion from the Black Widow's dream. Enter her first picture, and you will find the potion in the top left corner of the picture. Go to the ship in the bottle in the top right corner (without waking up the pirates). Use the shrinking potion. You'll be in the ship. There you have to use a cannon near the bottom of the ship. Go to the top masts of the ship where the highest sleeping pirate is. Without letting the pirate touch you, close the small wooden gate on the side of the box. Repeat this for the other pirate's box. Then go to the cannon down in the dinghy and wait for the 3rd pirate to roll left, and click the cannon to shoot. The bottle will break and you will obtain the totem.
