I use it all the time and if you get the $10 iTunes card... buy gems, type in your passcode, wait till you see the bought gems appear and then close the app quickly. If this is done quickly enough and with lots of luck you can get infinite gems. There is a 1/3 chance of it working and I have been able to get $40 worth of gems from a single $10 Free My Apps gift.
