If the rug is removable roll it up and take it to a self wash car wash, throw it over your car and rinse it out. If not go to a grocery store like Safeway, Giant, Weis, or a home improvement store and rent a rug doctor for the day it is anywhere from $10 - $20 US and just keep putting water on it and sucking it up. I'm not sure off hand what it is,but is a lot more water than white vinegar. put this solution into the rug doctor and the soap should come up much easier. after the rug is soap free, shampoo the area again to put luster back into the carpet or else it will feel hard and brittle. sig
