Take if from a much older gay, the friendship is always much more valuable than the potential relationship. It's not worth it to try and "turn a straight guy into a gay" or "see if you can get him to go gay for you". These sorts of things almost always end sadly with the death of a friendship and humiliation somewhere along the way.
Simply enjoy the friendship for what it is and look for romance in places where the romance may be requited. That will always lead to much healthier and more fulfilling relationships.
