You can get XP in Farmville for many things. Here's a list of some:

• Plowing land (1 XP per plot)
• Planting seeds (1 XP per plot)
• Mastering trees or plants (Each plant/tree has 3 levels of mastery)
• Earning ribbons/awards (there are 4 ribbons for each type of award)
