Remove the kitten from the older cat and separate them (using a gate, piece of cardboard, or other barrier between two rooms). The older cat should have free reign in most of the house, while the kitten is in one room. At mealtimes, place each cat's food on each side of the barrier with the removed so they smell and see each other. Sit with the cat; next time with the kitten. Slowly increase amount of time with the barrier removed, until they can be together without fighting.

Why does your older cat have a low meow now that you have added a kitten to the household?

It's probably because the cat is a little scared of the kitten. If your cat gave birth to the kitten, then it's having a hard time getting its meow right. Because when a kitten comes out of its mama, the mama's tummy hurts a little when it came out. So give your cat some time to think and get its meow right. Or just let the cat get to know the kitten. Good luck with that. :)

Why do cats have scrufs?

When a cat is little, the mother needs something to be able to carry the kitten around by. When a cat is scruffed, their body becomes limp. When a cat is older and is scruffed, this triggers the "scruff response", as when they were a kitten.

How can I get my kitten to stop nursing on my male cat?

To prevent your kitten from nursing on your male cat, you can try separating them when the behavior occurs, providing the kitten with appropriate toys or distractions, and ensuring the male cat has a safe space to retreat to. Consistency and positive reinforcement can help discourage the behavior over time.
