Try hand feeding it first. Be patient and continue this until he feels comfortable about you having your hand near him/her. Start rubbing him/her and when he/she feels comfortable about that start putting your hand on their belly but not picking them up. Do this for a while until they don't resist you. Then, when they feel comfortable about that pick them up but not out of the cage...eventually you can remove them from the cage and they will feel safe.
OF COURSE YOU CAN TOUCH THEM!!! ONCE THEY REALIZE WHO YOU ARE (AFTER YOU FEED THEM, CLEAN THEIR CAGE AND TALK TO THEM FOR A FEW WEEKS) YOU CAN CERTAINLY PICK THEM UP AND BEGIN TAMING THEM. THEY ARE FAST, SO 'HERDING' THEM INTO AN AREA AND LIFTING THEM AROUND THE TUMMY WHILE SUPPORTING THEM WITH YOUR OTHER HAND IS BEST. SIT DOWN AND PUT THEM ON YOUR LAP (OR UP AGAINST YOUR CHEST WHILE YOU RECLINE) AND STROKE THEM GENTLY. IF YOU DO THIS CONSISTENTLY (DAILY) FOR AWHILE, THEY'LL GET USED TO IT AND PURR FOR YOU. FEEDING THEM A SPECIAL TREAT WHILE YOU HOLD THEM IS A GREAT BRIBE (APPLE PIECES WORK WELL). I ONCE HAD TO HAND-FEED AN ILL PIGGY. AFTER 2 WEEKS, SHE NO LONGER HAD TO BE HERDED TO PICK HER UP. I COULD EVEN LEAN HER BACK AND EXAMINE HER TUMMY AND SHE'D PUT UP NO STRUGGLE! SHE GREATS PEOPLE NOW INSTEAD OF RUNNING!
Love & Care...spend time with it & hand feed it treats
When i first got my Guinea i used to hand feed it one raisin a day after giving it a little stroke...within a few weeks it trusted me enough to come out of its hiding area and come to my hand. But have patience. Trust takes time & effort :) Hope i helped :) x x
Well, you can't make any animal like you but I can give you some tips...
Guinea pigs are naturally nervous animals and easily frightened. You must be quiet and gentle when handling your pet. Keep them away from loud music and small children.
Try bonding by feeding them out of your hand (use carrots, lettuce, broccoli, etc.) Try inventing obstacles and games to teach your pig.
probaly because its scare of you give it a few days! excuse the spelling. also if u want a great relationship them is get them when they are at their youngest
my mom said that they go through that phase. But i did not believe her. A week after it bit me i got a knife and gutted it. That night for dinner we had mystery meat. My mom said it was good
When you first buy your guinea pig it may be nervous to its new surroundings so you shouldn't touch or hold your guinea pig pig for the first couple of days.
cause he hates u
If you believe in your guinea pig, he will know the way to the light of your trust in the gathering land. Yes.
no the mom guinea pig will lick and eat the outside of the newborn guinea pig and you will not half to dry it or anything, if you watch a hamster or guinea pig giving birth on youtube or something or any animal you will not half to dry it the mom does all the work. trust me.
NO.If you wash a guinea pig in a week the next week it still be kinda clean but in 2 week 1/2 without washing it it might lose it's trust in you so like clean it with special guinea pig wipes with it so clean and it can trust you forever.
Trust me...It's not...
it depends on the guinea pig, if the guinea pig doesn't trust you very much the guinea pig might run away. But if you have had it for a long time and it trusts you it just might walk around or just go near you ps...if this is your first time with the guinea pig just have all dangerous things or things you dont want to be bitten away and also have all doors closed in case it does run away.
It is spelled "guinea pig". You got it right! :)
u can do that when the run is secure enough and u trust your piggie.
The phenotype of the black guinea pig is black, and the pheno type of the white guinea pig is white.
go into 4h and they do guinea pig showing for all ages
There are a few things you can do, but guinea pigs are prey in the wild, so no mater how buddy-buddy you get with your guinea pig it will still run away when a hand goes to grab it, it's just a natural response. Try talking to the pig. Guinea pigs can get used to your voice, and will squeak with joy when they hear you. Also try hand feeding your pig. Get one of her/his favorite treats and feed it to your pig with it in your hand. Guinea pigs love food and would eat 24/7 if they didn't have to sleep, so food is a great way to your guinea's heart!
