Provide a forwarding address to the personnel and payroll office of your previous employer before separation or termination of employment for the previous employer to send you 2013 Form W-2. Notify the post office that services your old address or prior to the tax filing season change your address with the IRS, you may complete a Form 8822 (PDF), Change of Address, and/or a Form 8822-B (PDF), Change of Address - Business, and send them to the address shown on the forms.

The IRS ended the program that required employers to send in questionable W-4 forms (including exempt forms and forms claiming more than 10 allowances) in 2005. Employers should not send these to the IRS unless they receive a specific request from the IRS (in which case they will let you know where to send them). Employers are required to provide their employees with W-2 forms by January 31st of each year. When January 31st falls on a weekend, then the deadline is extended to the next business day. In 2010 January 31st falls on a Sunday, so employers have until Monday, February 1st to provide W-2 forms to their employees.
