When you crash land on the Pewter Moon, go to the mechanic inside the big building to your right (Astrozone). When you come back, use the holo-pad to design your ship. (The design actually makes very little difference in the effectiveness of the spaceship.) You can re-design anything by returning to the holo-pad on the moon.

Talk to the head mechanic at Astrozone and get a new spaceship. Then you can go to the planets on the Queen's coordinate list (jungle, fire, and ice planets).
